There is rich opportunity to go shopping in nearby Calgary.

You are probably used to having sales tax included in the price of things you buy in your home country. However, in Canada (and the US) sales tax is added to the price when you go to pay. For instance, if you want to buy a pair of shoes that cost $100, you will be charged $105. The sales tax of 5% is added to the published sales price.

This is the case for everything you buy – having a haircut, food, clothes, ski lift tickets and so on. This will probably take a little getting used to, even cause some frustration, but that is the system in Canada!
